RAMALAXMI IS NO MORE. We really miss you dear..

Wednesday, July 22, 2009

Friends...it was a 3 year journey she battled for life..finally, yesterday death defeated her. I really have no words. I know how people worked for her. How people wished her future.

Its Shocking. I begged doctors to use all their experience and try any kind of treatment for the miracle but with no use. She expired. She left all of us alone.

Ramalaxmi, May your SOUL rest in peace.

Situation is very serious. GOD PLEASE SAVE HER...

Tuesday, July 21, 2009

Today morning I got a call from her brother saying that her condition is very serious.
This is very harsh to say but right now only half of her body is functioning properly.
Her total body is affected with fungus. Especially Lungs. She was unable to take proper breath. Doctors are supplying oxygen continuously. Even her kidney is not 100% perfect. She will be shifted to ICU tomorrow.

I am really shocked to hear this news but no body can change one's fate. No one can change GOD's decision except GOD Himself. So let us wish and pray for her so that He can hear and do some miracle. Yes, really we need a miracle now.

Coming 4 days are very very Critical.

Yes!!!!! BMT was done…. We are HALF way through…

Saturday, July 11, 2009

Finally, after all the hurdles and pains, transplantation got over. Thanks for the support friends. I was waiting for this day from almost 2 years. Yesterday was day A0. It takes almost 10 to 14 days to know whether the operation is success/fail. If it is success then new blood cells will be generated from her marrow. Really I am keeping my fingers crossed for the same. I strongly believe that we can cross this stage either.

I know how people worked hard for this to get it done. I should personally thank Mr. Sudheer and Mr. Anvesh Talluri for their hard work to connect people, contact media, organizations, meets and what not? They made me virtually present in their every effort. Guys, you are really superb. Of course there are lots and lots of people who really worked hard for this cause. I personally thank each one of you from the bottom of my heart.

And now, we are half way through. Once the cells start producing, we should also be ready to support her for all the side effects she’s going to face. So friends please don’t stop working, we should see her stand on her own feet doing a job and support her family.

She should be in hospital for almost 2 to 3 months from now in CMC. GOD, please give her strength to overcome all those hurdles.

Finally A Smile On The Face:

Sunday, June 28, 2009

Yes, after a long and tough phase, there's a little chance to smile :) ..

Reports had come from US yesterday(27th June) and she was admitted in hospital again.
sDoctors said, they are going to start the process for BMT from Monday and until then she will be given anti-biotics.

Her brother(Donor) is yet to come and he may reach vellore in a day or two. Once he reaches they will keep him in observation for two days and then they do the BMT using his HLA components. (Not sure of the exact name of the component).

So, I believe in a week of time we will get to know the status of her condition and I think until then we may not be able to speak to her.

ALL THE BEST RAMALAKSHMI.

What could be the reason again???

Friday, June 26, 2009

One reason for this is:

Till now doctors were under perception that 5/6 HLA match should be fine to proceed for BMT but after looking at her health condition they have decided not to take risk. They had a meet amongst all the BMT specialists and further agreed to send the samples to US for further tests so that they can give proper medication.

What are the RISKS if BMT is done as is:

As you all aware by this time, post BMT(After the opearation) is very critical. For atleast 2 years she is prone to get many diseases. She needs to take care of herself without getting effected to any kind of infections. Her resistance power will be very less.

We need to spend almost the same amount as we spend to operation(BMT) to overcome those affects.

In any case if BMT is not done properly, the percentage chances of getting infections will be high. There are even chances that everything fails and come to the beginning.

Note: I got this information after speaking to Ramalakshmi. However we are not sure if there is any other reason. I would request everyone to pray for the best.

BMT again got delayed...

Friday, June 19, 2009

First of all our sincere apology for not updating blog for long time...

News from hospital is not good, still we are waiting for BMT date due to some problem with HLA test. Although we have deposited 6 lakhs for BMT. Currently she is undergoing dialysis and some other medication for fungi problem. Roughly it costs around 40-50 thousand in 15 days.

Details about Human Leukocyte Antigen(HLA) test:

There are two type of HLA test available(as par my understanding), one is 6 antigens test other is 10 antigens test. Ramalakshmi and her brother have undergone through 6 antigens HLA test, out of theses 6 antigens 5 have matched. So now doctors want to go for 10 antigens HLA test for both. But unfortunately 10 antigens test is not available in India so they have sent the blood sample to USA. We are hoping that by 1st week of July we'll get the report. Once the report will come doctors will proceed for BMT.

Now first question that comes in our mind why doctors have waited till now for this new test? I too don't have any answer....probably they send only samples for test after deposition of minimum amount for BMT. But in my opinion they should have sent at least for the test earlier , that would have saved the time ....

This was update from medical side...

Now some more update about Ramalakshmi....

Just I had chat with her few days back. She is now interested in learning Hindi, because whenever she goes to hospital she has to interact with many Hindi speaking people . So she has requested a Telugu-Hindi self learner book. I have already sent the book, probably she will get in few days.

http://www.pustakmahal.com/images/books/1223S_big.jpg

Apart from learning Hindi, she also wants to improve her English vocab . She has also planned to write a book about her own experience like Lance Armstrong.

I salute the fighting spirit of this girl...amidst all problems she has still kept motivated herself...

Once again We thank all the donors and well wishers for their constant support....We are looking forward for the same...

Feel free to contact us for any further update.

Pch!! An Unfortunate moment again…Infection delays Operation for the second time.

Thursday, May 21, 2009

We thought we were all set to go for BMT until yesterday.

In one of the pre-BMT tests which she had undergone yesterday, we came to know that her nose and throat were affected with infection. Doctors advised us not to go for BMT until she gets cured for this infection. She is using few anti-biotic medicines right now to get rid of that. Hopefully in a week of time this gets cured and then we can go for BMT.

Let us all pray for her faster recovery.

Its time to act aggressively...

Saturday, May 2, 2009

Last 15-20 days were full with ups and downs..

--> Ramalakshmi has got HLA match with her brother (getting HLA match is not less then any miracle!!!) .

--> But unfortunate part is that her lungs got affected with fungi and her condition is serious. According to doctors she should go under BMT ASAP. To start BMT process we need at least 3 lakhs rupees(INR).

Ramalakshmi's friends have started collecting fund very aggressively and we have got support from all over the world. Its heart whelming to see such response from all people. Many people have joined with us in this campaign. Thanks a lot everybody... still we have to go a long way....

Hats off to my friends

Wednesday, April 8, 2009

Initilally I was scared when I got to know that she has to take the tests somewhere in a place called Vellore Tamil Nadu. She has almost "zero" support from her family. I was scared how she's gonna manage all the days and undergo BMT tests successfully.

Then I remembered one of my friends named JAGAN MOHAN who is doing his Mtech in VIT, Vellore. I really did not expect she would get a wonderful support from him. To my suprise, there's one more friend of mine VENKATARATNAM who is doing his Mtech in Bangalore, who went to Vellore..stayed there all the days and supported her.
They managed everything very well and the process had become very fast and she had undergone the tests successully.
Ramalaxmi and her family stayed in their room initially but being their Project submission date coming closer they had to manage in a lodge for the last 4 days. But I remeber their rommies staying in another room adjusting. Thanks GUYz...thanks a lot...

I remember they struggling hard to get the doctor's appointments, waiting there for hours, sleepless nights, helping her like she is a kid....

I should also thank one of my friends named SWAPNA(whose mother is also getting treated for APALSTIC ANEMIA in CMC Vellore) for  her wonderful support.

HATS OFF friends...

There's still a long way to go and I really want you to support as you have supported now..

We are waiting for 14th March 2009 for the reports. We pray to GOD that she will get a perfect HLA match from her parents or siblings..

1st week at CMC, Vellore

Saturday, March 28, 2009

Ramalakshmi reached CMC on 23rd March. She is undergoing varoius test for last one week.

Ramalakshmi and her parents have undergone the HLA test today.

HLA test report will come by next week, so we've to wait till that time.

Some FAQ about Ramalakshmi's case:

  1. Presently is that donor for bone marrow transplant is available?
--> No, we are searching for that, in that process Ramalakshmi's parents and siblings will
undergo the HLA test.
2. What is the current status?

--> Ramalakshmi is at CMC, vellore and undergoing various test. Only after a week time
we'll able to say exactly about future plan.

3. How much does HLA test cost?

--> IT costs Rs 6,000 (approx) per person. Once the HLA test is matched then only we can
go for BMT(Bone Marrow Transplant).

We've tried to compile the most frequently asked question, if still you have some query or doubt please feel free to ask any of us.

I would again like to thank all the donors for their generous contribution. Please check the spreadsheet for latest update.
